The Ball

Last night was the CANZA Charity Ball at the Corinthian Towers. We nearly didn't make it last minute when M fell over in the shower, taking out the shower head in the process!!But he and the shower survived the trauma, our downstairs baby sitter arrived and we made it to the ball.

The menu was marinated prawn, kangaroo, gumleaf sorbet, pork stuffed with salmon, coffee pavlova....with non stop Jacobs Creek(one of those nights where they keep filling your glass and you don't know how much you have had). All that took us up to 11:30...at which time M & I turned back into pumpkins(our baby sitter was expecting us).

Although we went by ourselves we ended up meeting many people we know...4 teachers from school, one of the ladies I play tennis with, and a few of the parents from school. Our table had a few DHL and Ernst Young expats from Australia(one was the daughter of an EY founder).

We were entertained by an Aboriginal musician, Maori dancers, live band and a DJ. They had a lot of prizes and we were lucky enough to win a night for two in Karlovy Vary.

Australia vs Czech Rep in World Cup Final

Australia and Czech Republic got through on the same day. Is this an omen !

Would be severe slagging at work if both teams were in the final. I think I could beat them to a pulp ;-) Well, maybe threaten their bonus.

Wore the Aussie jumper around today - feeling pretty proud. Let's hope the boyz do us proud and not get knocked out in first round.

Back to work.

PS Putting in 2 more 50" plasma screens at work, maybe I'll slip in a TV tuner ;-)

Chance of SNOW on Thursday!

Yes, already the temperature has dropped and the forecast is for snow. Saturdays top is suppose to be minus 1.

It is freezing. There is a lot of moisture in the air which makes the cold permeate through my clothes to my 'grandma' (always cold anyway) skin.

My usual trip to pick N up from swimming has been hampered by the closure of the tram line to Slavia, which makes Tuesdays a bit of a chore. Czech class has been moved to Tuesday 12 o'clock. Then rush down to pick N up from school swimming then rush to top of Petrin for ceramics, then home by 6pm. Actually, home by 7:30 after a yummy pizza from our local (which I ordered completely in Czech!!!!he he he)

M is depressed, too much work and coffee machine has died - refuses to warm up(and it's not even cold inside).

The 'Baby Tower' puts on a light show

Every night the Zizkov telecom tower (Baby Tower - it has baby sculptures climbing up the outside) now has colourful lights that constatly change, from red,to green, to purple, pink, blue, strobe white, orange.

The days are getting very short. N comes home at dusk. We have had some very misty mornings where we can't even see the tower.
